Ever used Skype?
If you don’t, I’d
seriously recommend you try it. It’s simple to download the application and
get going. It’s a really good quality line when you’re talking PC to PC and
what’s even better is that PC to PC is totally free.
Did you know that you
can also you display images in Skype. When you edit your profile you have an
option in the ‘My Picture’ section to add a display image (or avatar if
that’s what you call it). Animated avatars aren’t available yet. You can also
insert emoticon icons into your text conversations on Skype.
If you’re a Skype user
and want to customize it with a funny avatar or cool icons check out this Personalize Skype page.
Skype have two partners that create avatars:
WeeMee:
Represent
yourself with a WeeMee and make a really whacky avatar
Klonies:
Klonies are customizable characters so you can create a version of yourself
or make a zany little monster.
You can play games with
Skype, update your wallpapers, change your avatar with a WeeMee avatar or
Klonies avatar. You can and even change your friend’s ringtone. Skype avatars
have a 96x96 pixel dimension for their icons.
Skype for Mac has
reduced functionality - really irritating if you’re a Mac user. A new version
has just been released which means Mac users can now use web cams with Skype.
You can download Skype 2.5 for Mac here.
